‘Awake’ Album Redesign
Music Packaging
This project was done for a music packaging class, where everyone had to choose one preexisting album and redesign it. I chose the Awake album by L’arc En Ciel. As a passionate music lover, I was excited and had several ideas for this package, but ultimately decided on a dark, whimsical forest theme. I was largely inspired by two tracks in the album: Jojoushi (叙情詩) and LOST HEAVEN. These two songs gave off a dark and dreamy, almost sparkly sound that I wanted to capture.
Project Summary
The album package consists of the main sleeve, inner gatefold, inner sleeve, as well as the vinyl record and the vinyl labels. To achieve the look I wanted, I used a combination of photo manipulation and illustration. Overall, this project turned out to be challenging, fun and fufulling.
