‘Awake’ Album Redesign

Project Summary

This project was done for a music packaging class where everyone had to choose one pre-existing album and redesign it. I chose the Awake album by L’arc En Ciel. As a passionate music lover, I was excited and had several ideas for this package but ultimately decided on a dark whimsical forest theme. I was largely inspired by two tracks in the album, Jojoushi (叙情詩) and LOST HEAVEN. These two songs gave off a dark and dreamy, almost sparkly sound that I wanted to capture.

The album package consists of the main sleeve, inner gatefold, inner sleeve, as well as the vinyl record and the vinyl labels. To achieve the look I wanted, I used a combination of photo manipulation and illustration. Overall, this project turned out to be challening, fun and fufulling.
